Projectile spit up.................?

my son is two weeks today hes formula fed and doesnt have an issue with the formula. I have to burp him every half ounce or its too much for him to drink and he spits up. he eats about 2 and a half oz every 2 to 4 hours. not sure why but today he all of a sudden started projecting the spit up away fom him completely. is this normal? i never had a spit up problem with my first son.
