What should I say to this girl to ease the tension?

I'm a sophmore in catholic school. Well this girl is in my religion cl but everyone in my religion cl thinks Im a nut becuz I'm Mormon. when everyone found out they went and ran to their priest and asked him about the "evil" that I bring to school with me. But I kind of like this girl. What should I say to avoid religion becuz she is heavy on catholicism and is a total prude. all that aside i like her. Help plz
