If MacBeth hadn't met the Witches would the prophesy still have come true?

OK, a prophesy is a prophesy so it must come true regardless. So, if MacBeth had never met the witches, never heard that he was to become king and therefore never told his wife who urged him to take matters into his own hands, would he still have become king?
