Has having tolerance helped you in your quest for spiritual enlightenment?

for me it's not so much about tolerating (because there are things which are intolerable, like the political and military coercion in iran, in china and zimbabwe to mention but a few salient examples), it's about making a real effort to understand where the 'other' comes from, what's behind the words and the actions which might be opposed to what i stand for, different from what i think, from what i might do. but, to answer your question, that effort helps me. i don't know whether i'll ever be 'enlightened' in any way, but i'm happy to strive for improvement.
