How to keep in touch with a former teacher?

I'm a teacher, and my heart is always touched when a student thanks me. It's so rare. You can thank him in a Facebook message, and send him a Friend Request at the same time. Most people are casual about who they accept as Facebook Friends, so I'm pretty sure it won't be a problem. Not weird at all to try to keep in touch with him. Very nice, in fact.
